Penguin Book Cover Competition 2015 - The brief was to produce a book cover in order to enter the annual penguin book cover awards. The book I chose to produce a sleeve for was Oranges are not the only fruit by Jeanette Winterson. I carried out my primary research by reading large parts of the book and also watching the BBC movie adaption of the novel. This gave me a good understanding of the feel of the story, therefore I chose to illustrate in a adolescent manor as this was first impression I was given. The hand rendered typography and the playful colouring in of the orange really empathised this. But to add a more dark and sinister feel (which i gathered from reading further) I gave the orange devil horns and a tail to portray something quite different to initial impressions. I produced artwork in accordance to what I felt from the book.

Longitude & Latitude Brief (Sept-Oct 2014) - This was my first brief of the HNC. We were tasked with producing artwork in relation to a time and a place which related to personal journeys. I chose to list all the previous airport destinations I had visited in order of when I had visited them and produce a short A4 zine which included an infographic at the back. I wanted to create an order in which my audience would view the zine, but an order which would not bore the viewer but create more of a challenge to them, but at the same time keeping its legibility. I also used my own photography and used colour pickers to connect the colours of my type with my imagery.

Some examples of work produced during my HND.
